By |2019-06-22T09:13:19-04:00April 28th, 2010|Featured, Insanity Blog, Latest Post|

Insanity WorkoutDifferent people come to Insanity for different reasons. Some are former college athletes looking to regain their strength and energy ten years down the road. Others are preparing for a marathon, or looking to drop weight gained from a life of unhealthy habits. But one of the groups I run into the most frequently and receive the most questions from are women who gave birth to kids a few years ago and have woken up one morning to have put on 60 lbs or so. These women are amongst the most motivated and determined group I have run into, and their tenacity and desire to reverse the weight gain is often the strongest. But how hard is it for them to lose that weight? Do they face extra obstacles, or is it in fact easier for them?

Third Week SlumpI see it over and over and over again. Scores of people line up to begin a health and fitness challenge. They can't wait, they've got the fever, they need to start as badly as drowning people need to breath. But then, a few weeks later, they're done. Stop cold. Endless number of people go through this pattern. So what's going on?

Do You Know What You’re Eating?

Food Inct's hard not to think we're sliding into a nutrition-version of 1984. I saw Food Inc this weekend. Shocked and angered me. I've been learning a lot about nutrition and what's healthy and what's not over the past, year, so I don't consider myself a newbie when it comes to these issues, but to see everything put together so lucidly and for the facts to be stated so blunty was a frightening eye opener.

Sledgehammers: Extreme Exercise # 1

By |2019-06-22T09:14:19-04:00April 14th, 2010|Exercise & Fitness, Latest Post, no photo|

Sledgehammer TrainingWe're going to be kicking off a series of articles here on the Extreme Fitness Results Blog examining the world of extreme exercises. While many people throw themselves into P90X or the Insanity Workout, there's a whole slew of others who like to get Rocky Balboa on their workouts and try a variety of intense exercises. Over the next few weeks we're going to examine a number of these off-the-beaten track workouts, and evaluate whether they're worth considering. Today we're going to kick off by looking at a very cool exercise: the sledgehammer Tabata. It's cool because you get to swing a sledgehammer around, and if you're a boy, that's like returning to be a nine year old. If you're a girl? I don't know. Do girls like swinging sledgehammers around? Probably! That's just how awesome sledgehammers are.

What To Do When You Quit

By |2019-06-22T09:14:50-04:00April 5th, 2010|Exercise & Fitness, Latest Post, no photo|

Tired AthleteThe message is always the same: Never Give In, Never Surrender. Work through the pain, tough it out, walk it off. Dig deeper, bring it, be all that you can be. But sometimes life intervenes, sometimes events go awry, and you just have to stop. An injury, a new job routine that hogs all your time, a complete implosion of your willpower, a failure to get the results you needed to stay motivated, something comes along and you find yourself unable to get out of bed and do your workout. What do you do then?
