The most accurate and objective DVD by DVD review of Tony Horton’s P90X Workout. Learn the details of each and every single workout. A must read for all of you that are considering getting this workout and wondering what the next 90 days of your life will look like.
Tony says: Chest and back is push and pull to the extreme. What’s nice about it is the variation of hand grips, distance, push-up bars. If you can eliminate that mindset that ‘I can’t, I can’t do pull-ups.’ Forget I can’t and say I presently struggle with, and if you keep that mindset then over the course of time, someone who’s dream was to do 2 or 3 can turn into 20 and more
Tony says: Plyometrics means ‘jump training’, you’ve got lateral movement, forward movement, back and forth, up and down, burning calories, man oh man oh shevetz as my uncle used to say. Keep a little bucket close by my friend because this routine is X-City. Plain and simple? This is the ‘X’ is P90X.
Tony says: The shoulder and arms is a glamor routine, it’s the glamor muscles, it’s what’s exposed when you where a tank top. Twenty five years ago you would see me in a tank top; I started developing my arms, I started wearing it.
Cardio Recovery is the workout performed once a week in order to allow your muscles and cardio engine to recover from the brutal intensity that is the INSANITY workout.
Tony says: : If there is a routine that is fun fun fun it is Kenpo X. It’s moving, it’s groovin, it’s changing direction there is so much going on. You’re jumping around like a madman, you’re burning tons of calories, but you’re so busy because you’re involved with what you’re doing, that before you know it’s over. You’re soaking wet, you feel like a million bucks. It’s Kenpo X
Tony says: :By doing Core Synergistics you’re going to prevent injury, you’re going to make yourself less vulnerable, and you’re going to be a hell of a lot more durable. Synergistics is multiple muscle groups at the same time while working core muscles, and it also supports all the other workouts in this program.
Tony says: : The reason why chest, shoulders and triceps are in one workout together is because this is all about taking the energy and the resistance and pushing it all away from you. And that’s why it works. It’s just good old fashioned weight lifting 101, this stuff has been around a long time.
Tony says: Back and biceps is simple old school. It’s about using exercises where you’re pulling toward your body, pulling toward your body. It would almost be impossible to avoid the burn, but the burn is there for a reason. If you go back, double bicep, back, double bicep and that sequence burns calories, you feel the burn in your arms and your back, and man if you really work hard and bring it you’re going to see awesome results. You’re working two body parts in one direction and you’re blasting them in one workout. Magic.
Tony says: :Cardio X is a critical part of this entire program because people need to burn calories. I want the stuff in Cardio X that people saw in other parts of the program. There’s a little bit of yoga in it, there’s a little kenpo, there’s a little bit of plyo in it, and there’s a little bit of core in it.
Tony says: What’s really really amazing about Ab Ripper X is that it gives people the opportunity to get the best, most ripped abdominal area they’ve had in their lives. We’re doing over 300 moves here. But the only way to get results–and get the sculpted abs that you want–is you have to BRING IT.
