INSANITY Workout Testimonials

Does INSANITY work?
Read below for personal reviews on each INSANITY workout, told from each person’s perspective as they battle alongside Shaun T in an attempt to make it through the sixty days…
Phil Tucker: Day 1, the INSANITY Fit Test
I have to admit that I was a strange blend of nervousness and confidence going into the Fit Test. I’d been anticipating starting Shaun T’s INSANITY for over a week, and finally the day was here. I’d heard so much about the workout that I was intimidated-would I be able to keep up? On the other hand, this was just the Fit Test, a mere thirty minutes that would probably involve warm up and cool down. How hard could it be? I’d just go as hard as I could, do my best, and cruise on through to the other side.
Or so I thought…
Phil Tucker: Day 2, Cardio and Plyometrics
I’m writing this post the next day. I did the second INSANITY workout yesterday evening, and woke up this morning feeling like somebody had spent the night beating me up with an iron skillet. My hamstrings seem to have shortened by two inches, my feet are sore, my lats are smoldering, and my shoulders feel tight. Cardio & Plyometrics is a tough, tough workout. And it looks like I’m a secret masochist, because I’m gunning for tonight’s workout. Somehow, for some bizarre reason, despite the pain and soreness and stiffness I’m loving the INSANITY workout…
Phil Tucker: Day 3, Power Cardio & Sculpt
Yesterday was rough. As reported I woke up feeling sore, and that soreness lingered throughout the day. My hamstrings and calves were stiff and aching, and I kept having to stand up every twenty minutes or so to stretch them out during the course of the day. By the time I got home I was getting seriously worried that I wouldn’t be able to do the next INSANITY workout-if I was limping up the stairs, how was I going to do Suicide Jacks? But, with a deep sigh of regret, I struggled into my trainers and headed down into the garage with Grace to confront Shaun T in my third INSANITY workout…
Phil Tucker: Day 5, Pure Cardio
You know it’s bad news when ShaunT tells you he’s worried about the upcoming work out. Like he’s thought it out on paper, put the drills together, but now that the moment has come he’s no longer sure that it’s humanly possible to do everything he’s planned out. Which, when you think about how hard the other INSANITY workouts are, is definitely something to worry about…

I’m in my recovery week. I LOVE Insanity. I’m a jogger, and jogging helps me maintain my weight. I’ll never give it up. Insanity is just what I needed to push myself, and get results. I’m feeling incredible! My wieght is dropping, I can FEEL the toning in muscles I’ve never felt before. I’m looking forward to month two! This is beyond all the free weight videos, the FIRM, etc. I’ve been working out for 20 years, and this is a keeper. HIGHLY recommended!
I’m in my first week and you can definitely feel the work out. My muscles were so sore i was limping around by workout number three, but i wouldn’t have it any other way. If i wanted a low intensity workout i would have saved my money and just went to the gym, but i’d much rather have insanity killing me at home because i know it has to be working. Although i know this workout will is tough i love it!
Heya Sam M!
You’re on the right track! Isn’t it awesome when you start seeing your body adjust to the intensity, and that excruciating soreness starts to fade? In fact, you’ll come to miss that soreness after awhile, because you’ll miss that indicator that you were killing yourself in the beginning. So enjoy, keep sweating, keep fighting, and never forget: focus, and go!
I would like to know if anyone started the insanity workout overweight, and if you have achieved your goal? Most look to be in fairly good shape. I had a baby a couple of years ago, and would like to lose the
extreme belly I have…. Thinking about cosmetic surgery, but if there is a way I can lose the fat around my waist without surgery, would love too hear it. So, would love some feedback by the insanity crew and anyone that can steer me into the right direction….
Thank you,
Hi Jordano,
I definitely advise natural exercise over invasive, unnecessary surgery. Go for the nutrition and fitness option! I’m going to leave this open to our members and community to give you some feedback. Might help if you give some specs for people to relate to!
Quick question: I just received my insanity workout in the mail today! Soooo excited to get fit
I was just wondering where and how do I post my before pics?? And how do I know what measurements I need to take?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Priscilla,
Exciting! Nothing like getting that package in the mail, and knowing that in your hands is the tool that’s going to completely change your body. The potential is all there. As for your before and after pics, at the moment the EFR blog doesn’t really have a way of hosting those (but trust me, that’s all going to change next month–we’re doing a huge expansion, and are going to have forums, user blogs, a place to post pics, the works), so for now your best bet is to head over to the official Beachbody page and post them there. However, don’t forget about us! Come back and let us know how you’re doing on the workouts, how you handle the first fit test, and if you have any questions, just ask and I’ll do my best to help out!
All the best!
I LOOOOOOOOOOOVe Insanity. Its kicking my butt back into shape.
So I am a mother to three beautiful girls, the only problem is the 50 lbs I gained throughout the three pregnancies. I had been excercising and eating healthy for about two months and went from 195 lbs to 170 lbs but was kind of stuck. No matter how much I worked out I was not losing inches or lbs. My sister in law suggested INSANITY and I figred I had nothing to lose. Today will be our 4th day and let me tell you my behind is getting kicked! I woke up today so sore I was almost in tears but for some odd reason I can’t wait until we work out today! I am so excited not necessarily to see results but for the day to come that this work out will be second nature to me!
Congrats, Alex!
Beware the third week slump (read my current blog post), and be sure to work on your nutrition! No matter how much Insanity you do, if you’re not eating right, you won’t get results. Hang in there, and let us know how it goes!
I am on day four of the insanity workout and boy it has been a challenge but rewarding!! I have a son who is seven and a daughter who is 10 months and my body well to H.e.l.l. after they were born. I gained nearly 50lbs with both pregnancies. I started working out in December and lost approx 25lbs. I want to lose more weight and tighten up my abs. To all mothers who want to get rid of the post baby weight reduce your calories and workout with Insanity.
I hear you KGarret! I had a c-section 5 years ago and have been struggling to lose the baby fat especially on my front abs and love handles. In the last year and a half, I lost 35lbs doing cardio, HIIT, and circuits. But I’m aiming for tight abs without surgery. So to say the least, I needed a challege and that’s why I took on “Insanity”. I’m starting Day 3 tomorrow. Wish me luck, guys! By the way, your posts are really encouraging.
So im on week 3 of insanity and i absolutely love it!!!! I am a mother of 3 and my youngest is 8 months so you can imagine im not very tall im 5′4 and 23 yrs old. Just bought Insanity! I am nervous and excited! I have been dancing for over 20 years and lately have been doing some grueling Jillian Michaels DVD’s but really wanted a challenge and REALLY want to get in great shape! Any pointers on what to drink after the workout would be much appreciatesd
Hey KGarrett,
Keep it up! Congrats on the determination and the success so far, I really think you’re fast tracking to a whole new body. It’s always inspiring to hear from people like you, and I hope you come back to let us know how it goes!
Best of luck, Iris! Let us know how it goes!
Congrats, Nicole! Keep it up, and let us know how it’s going! And twice per day is CRAZY!
Hi Nicole,
Congrats on taking the Insanity challenge! You’re going to do great
As for a post-workout drink, check out the P90X Recovery Formula. Barring that, just make sure you get lots of water, and be sure to eat a meal right after you workout if you can, or at least a healthy snack, so as to replenish your fuel!
Hey Everyone I just started Insanity Monday and I am struggling. I just had my son 5 months ago and i gained 70 lbs and I have already lost 50 of it so I am just trying to get rid of the rest. Before I was pregnant I was really in shape. But now I can barely keep up with Insanity. I did plyometrics cardio circuit today and got through half of it and i had to stop. I am wondering if I should just keep going everyday as much as i can or not do Insanity at all?
Hi Frency,
Tough call. Now that you’ve begun, I’m almost for advising you to stick with it. How are your joints? Are you in pain between workouts? How is your energy level? Remember, if you are doing the workouts, don’t press stop. No matter what, let the workout keep rolling, and even if you take a 5 minute break, or just go through the motions, it’s better than stopping altogether. Pace yourself. Don’t go all out in the warm up and then find yourself dead when it comes to the rest of the workout. Go slow, and make sure to hang in there.
That said, depending on your answers to my initial questions, maybe you should try something like the Brazil Butt Lift. You can always put Insanity on the shelf, and come back to it in a few month’s time when you’re stronger and ready for it.
I’m on the 2nd month and it’s kicking my butt….I had to take a day off in between workouts to recover. But I’m still pushing on. I ‘ve only lost 5 lbs. I was 180lbs. when I started, now I am @ 175 lbs. My target weight is 150lbs. because I’m 5′ 5″. I may not reach it at day 60 but it doesn’t matter. I will just keep going with it at my own pace because I know it’s worth it.
just got insanity looking forward to the challenge. every thing sounds great everyone i have talked to says its an amazing workout i hope i enjoy as much as i think i will
I’m on week one of Insanity. Today I’ll do the Pure Cardio…I’m loving it so far but it is really kicking my butt. I only want to lose about 8 lbs. I was always somewhat active and never really overweight. But doing these workouts makes me feel so out of shape. I often have to stop and catch my breath, and I’ve yet to finish a complete workout without fast-forwarding to the cool down. Even the cardio recovery left me sore. The worst part is the pain in my calves…I’m a nurse and I’m on my feet for 12 hours and I’ve been limping at work. So I’m wondering if I should take a break for a day, or if I should just work through it. It makes it harder to push myself during the workouts because I’m still sore from the day before. I keep telling myself that as I get stronger it will hurt less. The good part about the sore muscles is it’s encouraging knowing that I must be doing something right if I’m this sore, and I know the results will be worth it.
Starting month 2 tomorrow. Down almost 20lbs in 5 weeks, but lost 15lbs in the first 2 weeks. Can’t wait to start the extreme dvds to get even better results. Don’t hit stop or pause, do what you can to get through the videos. I’m going into my 6th week and I still haven’t mastered any of the videos, but I do my best for the way my body feels that day. You will get results with this, but you have to watch you calories.
I am a 52 year old woman. I am not over weight but haven’t really exercised in a few years. I have started losing muscle tone so I am trying to get a workout to build muscle without weights. This sounds perfect but I’m wondering if anyone my age has seen results?
Hi, Im 17 years old and I just purchased the Insanity dvd, hasnt arrived in the mail yet but Im waiting patiently. Reason why I purchased it was so I could get into better shape for Cross Country and the Marine Corps. I’m in pretty good shape, I run as much as I can and it has helped me go from 170lbs to 157lbs. I was wondering how great were the results achived on the program after the 60 day period? Anyone my age see any results?
Hey guys I just ordered INSANITY and I am really looking forward to trying it out. I have always been a smaller guy who never really cared for the crowds and noise of the gym. I gues I should clarify when I say smaller I mean thin I am about 5′10.5″ but quite thin and I always have been. So with that said I am really not doing this to shed pounds but to just get myself into better shape and toned up. I am really looking forward to pushing myself through this and seeing the difference the 60 days will make
You sound like me. I am 52, would like to drop a few pounds (5), I am in fairly good shape but would definitely like to make it through. I was surprised when I called support to see if they felt I could do the program, he instantly said to exchange it and that was strange. I am definitely not unfit at this time in my life. any ideas out there. I am wanting to start on this monday coming up. I need some advice. Is 52 too old or should we go for it???? I run, I bike, I walk, I do something every day.
John:
Congratulations, amigo! Those are some incredible results. 20lbs in 5 weeks is no joke! And thanks for emphasising the nutrition. It really is key.
RC:
There are people who have done Insanity well into their 60’s, which is truly insane but also really inspiring. Just be sure to take care of your joints (best cross trainer shoes, yoga mat, etc), and you should do great!
Danielle:
Best of luck! Insanity can make a spinning instructor feel out of shape, so I know what you mean. Definitely invest in some excellent cross trainer shoes, a yoga matt, and take some time before and after each workout to stretch out your calves. The Insanity stretch doesn’t hit them because in the basketball gym there’s nothing to lean against, but you should definitely pause during the stretch and make sure to focus on your calves for awhile. Also, take a look at the P90X results & recovery drink. Should really help with the soreness.
Runnergirl:
You are in for an amazing two months. Insanity is going to not only help you lose weight, but seriously build up your cardio engine, develop your explosive power, and strengthen your muscles without bulking you up. Focus on the nutrition guide! You’re going to love this–best of luck!
Tim B.
I think you’re going to love Insanity. You’re going to develop your explosive power and cardio engine like nothing before, and while you may not lose much weight if you do the nutrition plan right, you will strengthen your muscles and really rev up your cardiovascular system. Best of luck!
CF!
The only real answer I can give you is to listen to your body. Insanity is a wonderful, terrifyingly effective program, and as long as you listen to your body and avoid pain, there is no reason you should avoid it. Run it past your doctor, take it slow and steady and really nail the nutrition, and you’ll do great!
I am on Day 48 of my insanity workout. I have been exercising consistantly for 23 years - cardio/weight training, etc. I love this product and will continue meshing in with my other workouts when my 60 days are up. I started Insanity looking for a boost-i got it. I went from my size 6 (not that thas was so horrible) to a size 4 - i was 36-27-36 i am now 34-26-34. I feel great and i thought i was in great cardio health before-i am definately there now thanks to Shaun T and Insanity. I recommend it to anyone looking for an extra boost. I would not recommend though to someone first starting out who never exercised as you may die doing it. It’s intense. if you are interested in doing this, and you are out-of-shape, start gradually getting into some kind of shape before spending the money on this workout. Seriously.
Hi, i am 17 years old and just ordered insanity today i am going into my senior year of soccer and am expecting scouts to be looking at me. I am hoping that insanity will be able to get me in good enough shape to keep up with division 1 and 2 athletes i am planning on trying out with.
Hi Karli,
I think Insanity will definitely help you break through any plateaus, and it will also help ramp up your energy levels and develop your explosive power, especially for sprints. Best of luck!
I’m 16 and and already in pretty good shape, but i want to lbuild muscle, do you think this workout will do this or is it strictly fat burning
Hi, I’m 53 and in reasonable shape (except for the middle-age spread around my waist), low blood pressure, no history of joint issues, and I’ve been doing Insanity for the past two weeks. So far, so good. I don’t always go as fast as Shaun T. and occasionally have to take a break for a few seconds during one of the exercises, but basically I’ve been doing fine. I’ve lost a 4 or 5 pounds, but I don’t plan to check my weight very often. I have a couple of questions. First, on day 13 (yesterday), it listed Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs. I basically took a quick break after Pure Cardio and then started Cardio Abs. How much of a break between workouts should there be? Second, I’m not following the nutrition routine in the booklet, but I am being pretty careful about what I eat and eating healthy. Is there a major difference between the results gained from following the nutrition plan religiously and simply generally eating right? I’ve ordered the results and recovery formula and will start taking it when it arrives. Insanity’s been really hard, but I’ve surprised myself with how much I have been able to keep up and with my improvement since day 1. Looking forward to week three.
Hi Jake,
My advice for you is to try P90X. Good luck!
Hi Jack,
Congrats on the success thus far. Keep it up! In answer to your questions:
1) Don’t worry overmuch about whether you take a 30 second water break between the two or five minutes to catch your breath back. The important thing is that you transition while your body is still warm and geared up from the first workout. Just do what feels right and comfortable, while still pushing yourself as hard as you are comfortable.
2) The benefit to following the nutrition plan is that it takes the guess work out of what you’re doing. If you’re unconsciously doing something that you’re not aware of as being detrimental to your goals, then you’ll keep on doing that. Following the nutrition plan will make sure you’re doing what needs to be done.
Either way, it sounds like you’re doing incredibly well. Keep it up, stay in the game, and please come back and let us know how your fit test results improve!
I am 113 lbs and 5′6″ so I’m not looking to lose weight. I’m very lean and muscular on top but my bottom half is soft, tons of cellulite, and is heading south due to age. I go to the gym but am not in great shape. I also have a history of knee and hip issues. I’m not certain I should try insanity or maybe the Brazilian butt workout. I’m tired of hating wearing swimsuits and I want a change! What do you suggest?
I was 6′2″ and 225lbs when I started Insanity 8 weeks ago. I am 40 years old and haven’t done much exercise over the last 5 years. Between work and family I never felt I had the time. I kept my caloric intake to 2200 calories a day on average. After the 8 weeks I have lost 22lbs and 4 ” around my waist. I am AMAZED how Insanity has changed my body in such a short time. Honestly, if you do Insanity to the Best of your ability you too will see changes.
Insane!!
I am waiting on my Insanity Workout program over mail. I am 6′1 245 lbs and Anxious to start the workout. Used to be 175 cut and lean with abs 10 years ago, got married, and had children along with wife (lol). Over the years I have ran and excercised but unfortunately never cared too much about my calorie intake…kinda sair “oh, what the hell..I’ll burn it off tommorow”. Stupid Me….I never realized how much that mentally would catch up to me. I order Insanity last Thursday evening 5/6/2010 and haven’t received it yet….Anxiously waiting for it. I have been running and watching my calorie intake now for 2 weeks and I have been noticing the change on my face and waist line. I am preping myself up for Insanity, I will keep you up to date.
Many Thanks Folks for your motivating comments.
US Army Veteran
Best of luck, Army Vet! We’re rooting for you, and hope you’ll come back often to post your successes and setbacks as you fight your way back into fighting form!
Hi Lee!
Given your knee and hip issues, I would advise you to steer clear of Insanity for the moment. Even Brazil Butt Lift might be a challenge, but I advise you to try that after running it past your doctor. As you can imagine, without knowing (and not being a doctor!) the extent of your joint issues, I can’t give you any solid advice. Purchase the Brazil Butt Lift, show it to your doctor, try it out carefully, and if it’s too intense, return it! Remember, it was designed to give Victoria Secret models their slim, gorgeous figures, so it should definitely address your issues
All the best!
Bob!
I love your results. Insane is truly the words. I imagine that not only have you lost weight in terms of fat, but have also replaced it with muscle, making the total fat loss even higher. Awesome, awesome, awesome. The question thus becomes: what next? Where do you go from here? You ain’t done yet, buddy. Thinking P90X?
I am on my second week, it’s “Pure Cardio” today after work and I can’t wait.
I thought I had made a big mistake purchasing this program after I tried the Fitness Test but I hung in there and am glad I did….I LOVE IT! I have always used videos to stay in shape but this Insantiy workout has made me sore in places i’ve never been sore before, even with weights.
Don’t give up, even if you feel like your heart is going to explode, you won’t die! Trust me, hang in there and you’ll be sooo happy you did. I feel like i won a marathon when I’m done. Shaun T is the best!
Way to go, Maria!
Hang in there, dig deeper, and come back to let us know how you keep progressing!
I received Insanity yesterday and today I did the Fit Test. I’m a 52 year old female. Weight is good but I haven’t exercised much at all for a few years. I must admit I said “Whew” during the warm up and that’s the first time that’s happened so quickly to me. The moves are a little harder than I’ve done before but definetely do-able. I can’t wait until tomorrow. I’m excited about the challenge!!
So I am 5′9″ and 180lbs (about 25 pounds overweight but not obese). I have started insanity 2 days ago. Not being able to keep up with shaun T, but trying my bes to finsh all exercises to my limit. If i am not able to keep up..is that bad? Also My aim is to lose 20-25 lbs in 3 months( I want to repeat the second month of insanity a third time). Is that possible for me? I am athletic, I play sports run around..I am sweating alot while doing insanity. Really nervous..I want to lose weight. What else should I do along insanity to lose weight and get toned? Do you advice going to the gym also?
Lastly, what time of the day is it best to do insanity/
Best of luck, RC! Hang in there!
Hi AC,
You need to focus on going at your own pace, at pushing yourself but not worrying about keeping up with Shaun. The man is a track and field star and a professional trainer. It’s no wonder few of us can keep up with him!
What you really need to focus on if you’re determined to lose weight is the nutrition plan. That’s what will make or break your plans, not the exercising. How hardcore are you being about monitoring what you eat?
Finally, the best time of day to do Insanity is the one that allows for the most consistency and will help you keep going in the long term. If you absolutely hate morning workouts, doing them in the evening. If you have no time after work, do them in the morning. The only important thing is that you do them.
Thanks Phil
Yes I am trying to follow the nutrition plan. I have cut my diet. My BMR comes out to be around 3000 calories and I try to intake not more than 2000-2500. I have done 2 days of workout. I typically do it around 11pm or so. Thats when I get free. Is that fine?
Will Insanity only work if you also follow the nutrition plan? I am 34 years old, about 12 pounds overweight but exercise regularly, albeit not too intensely. I desperately want to get in better shape and am committed to doing the workouts, but am not convinced I will stick with the eating plan. Should I still do it?
Alissa,
Do the nutrition plan. It’s as simple as that. At the very least, figure out your caloric needs, follow the plan for a week or two so that you get a sense of how it works and how much you should be eating, and go from there. If you go it yourself and aren’t too clear on what you should be doing, you might eat more than you burn, or get too much of one thing or not enough of another. Why risk it? Go for the best results possible!
Thanks Phil - I am going to give it a try.
I love insanity..its intense, but I have always been an athlete and love it….Phil..quick question..so out of all the exercise reps…i am probably able to do 3/4 or 3/5 of all of them…is it bad that I can’t do all of them..i get tired relatively quickly
AC,
Don’t sweat how many reps you’re able to do compared to the people on the screen. Remember, some of them started as spinning instructors before doing Insanity, and the DVD workouts were filmed after they finished their own two months. So they’re meant to inspire you, but not make you feel like you have to compete. Do your best, dig deeper, and hang in there!
I’m 39 yera old and have been thinking about doing the insanity, but my work schedule only allows me to have to work out 3 days /week. is that goin to be a problem? If I can only do it every other day… will it still work afte 120 days? And I’m also curious about the afterwars… you don’t just do the 60 days and you’re done… can you do it over and over?
So I’m on week 3 of Insanity. I posted a comment a few weeks ago about feeling really sore and out of shape. I’m now able to finish a full workout (with a few pauses along the way). I’m not sore to the point where it’s uncomfortable. I always feel a slight twinge in my muscles for the rest of the day after a good workout. I don’t mind it though. It’s a reminder of how hard I’m working and that’s motivating. However, I’m starting to feel a little bit discouraged because I’m not noticing a huge difference. I know it’s only been three weeks, but I havent lost any weight and I’ve maybe lost an inch, if that. My clothes don’t really fit any looser…I’m wondering if this is normal. Is it too early for big results? I’m not that overweight to begin with but i have about 8 pounds to lose. How long does it usually take for significant weight loss?
Danielle,
First off, congrats on staying the course. Second, check out this blog post I wrote: body weight vs. body composition.
Hang in there–I’m sure you’re feeling better, looking better, and have more muscle and less fat!
MV:
Go for it. Some exercise is better than none, and Insanity is intense enough that even if you only do it 3 days/week, you’ll still get great results. You’ve got nothing to lose!
Hi Phil,
So I am trying my best to follow the nutrition plan but basically what ends up happening is that 5/7 I am able to follow it and 2 days i end up giving in when I eat with friends. Is that fine?
I finished the third week of Insanity. As I mentioned before, I’m 53, and so far so good. I went faster this past week and kept up better. I’m hoping to do a little better this coming week. I’m weighing myself at the end of each week. It looks as if I lost around 3 or 4 pounds this past week, so that puts me at around 8 pounds or so so far. I’m getting a little worried about how tough month 2 will be but am looking forward to week 4.
Just attempted my first week of Insanity. After doing the Plyometric Cardio on my second day my calves were sore and late in the day I was limping around whenever I would get up from my desk. The next day my calves were so sore and stiff that I had a hard time walking and it would take several minutes of walking to stretch my legs out enough to walk normally.
The next day I did Cardio Power and just tried to take it a bit easier on the exercises that worked my calves. Then I did the Cardio Recovery day, which I think helped with all the stretching.
At this point it was Friday and my calves were still extremely tight. I’ve been working out pretty regularly for at least the last 6 years and I’m used to getting sore after a good workout.. But my calves were sore to the point that I felt I might be hurting myself by continuing to push through the workout. So what I did was Friday I just went to the GYM and did some upper body weights, and then on Saturday I did the Cardio Recovery workout again. And took Sunday off.
This morning I simply restarted week 1 by doing the fit test. My hope is that by letting my calves rest up a bit I’ll be able to get through Plyometric cardio without completely killing them. I know I’ll be sore, but I don’t feel I should be THAT sore..
Any thoughts on this?
Hi, I’m 19 years old and am almost done with my 4th week of Insanity.
I was going strong for the first 3 weeks but then finals took a toll on me and I took the first 4 days off of the 4th week to study study study! I’m back on track now and am ready to get back in the swing of things.
My question is, throughtout this workout program I haven’t seemed to lose much weight, if any. I’ve never been overweight just wanted to tone up. Any ideas on why I’m not seeing any weight loss? Although during the first 3 weeks I was told that it looked like I was losing weight (so I guess just toning up?) Also, should I follow the nutrition guide exactly to get results?
Thanks!
Hi Eater,
That’s fine. What’s important is that you do your best. It’s better to do 5/7 then nothing at all, and you’ll find with time that your body will appreciate the clean healthy food and you won’t want the junk. Also, the nature of the Insanity Workout is such that you’ll be toasting calories, so you should process whatever you eat quickly.
That said, you won’t get the best results possible. Realize that if in 2 months time you’re not 100% satisfied with the way things turned out, all those drinks and meals will be a lot of the reason you’re not quite where you wished to be!
Jack:
Excellent. Week 3 is the toughest week, the one where people burn out because it’s no longer novel, and instead runs the risk of simply becoming ‘work’. But it sounds like you powered right through it! Keep it up, let us know how this week goes, and remember that while you’re losing fat, you’re gaining muscle. Best of luck!
Heya Jeremy,
You’re a perfect example of what I talk about in this blog post here. Go check it out, and I’m sorry for the unnecessary soreness you’ve been through. Hope that blog post helps!
Hi Alexandra,
Check out this blog post I wrote here for the answer to your question. Basically, it’s the diff between losing body weight and changing body composition. What you need to focus on is how you look and your energy levels, not the scale!
A quick question about the nutrition plan. For a couple of recipes, it mentions protein power. In some cases, it says specifically whey protein. In other cases just protein powder. Is there a difference, and with all the protein powder out there how do you know what’s best to use? Thanks.
Hi Jack,
Whey protein concentrate is probably the best one to go with.
I’m currently in my recovery week and have been getting my butt kicked for the last four weeks. I was hoping things would get easier after a few weeks, but not yet. I am 50 years old and in moderate shape. My goal was to lose between 30-40 pounds and lose my beer gut. I so far have lost 14 lbs. I do my best at keeping up with the video, but always come up short. I’ve been doing well at eating right and not drinking alcohol during the week. I must admit that a do cheat a little on the weekends. I’m on target for reaching my goals and I feel like I have more energy. Thanks
I am a mother of an 8 month old son. I have always been a thick girl, but after having a c-section I cannot lose any weight. I am at my before weight but the skin is not as tight as it used to be and I want to lose more weight. I am looking into purchasing INSANITY but I wanted to know if it would work for me??
Hi Lance,
Keep it up! Remember that even as you lose fat you’re gaining muscle, so the weight loss might not reflect what’s really going on in your body. Hang in there, keep eating and sleeping right, and let me know how the MAX workouts treat you!
Hi Trish,
Insanity could definitely be the way to go. Focus on the nutrition like crazy, because that’s what will help you lose the weight, and then hang in there. The results should be fantastic!
Well, here I am. My fiance and I are going to start the program as soon as it arrives. We’ve been “talking” about working out for quite awhile and I liked the sound of Insanity because there were no extra gadgets involved. Plus we both like to see results quickly. I’m 23, 5′4″ and 160lbs, so I’m not in shape at all and I know this is going to be tough, but I’m going to do my best and see where it takes me. I’m concerned about my fiance. He’s 30, 6′3″ and 210lbs. We both used to be in pretty good shape, but have deteriorated over the past year. I’m just concerned he will have problems because he complains about back and joint pain often from being so hard on his body when he was younger. How can he know if he’s pushing too hard?
Hey Phil,
I am on week 2 day 4. I wanted to know how soon I can see results. Also I missed 2 days and had a few days of bad food :-(.
I am trying my best to eat healthy. I try to have small healthy meals. For eg..in the morning. I have yogurt followed by granola bar and then I get a 12″ sub from subway and split the sub into 2 meals(1 big sub-chicken breast in whole wheat bread=700 calories but i have it over dinner and lunch) and then maybe a snack at night. How does this sound?
Thanks
Hi Megan,
Nothing like swinging into action, finally getting ready for the big push to achieve health and fitness. Way to go! My advice Megan is for your husband to listen to his body. He might also (actually, both of you) might want to start with a Recovery week to ‘warm’ your bodies up, get them used to the intensity, since the recovery week is much less intense and could thus be used as a stepping stone. Beyond that, read this blog post of mine on joint problems–it might help keep them away. Finally, tell him to just listen to his body. There’s a difference between healthy aches, and real pain, and he’ll have to know where that difference lies.
AC!
Way to go, you’re in the second week! I know you’re impatient to see results, but it give it a little time, my friend. You’re taking the natural, healthy approach to body transformation, not the quick fix of plastic surgery, and as such, if you’re doing everything right, you should start seeing visible changes by the end of week 3, I’m guessing, though you should feel different already (and not just sore). However, if you keep missing days and not following the nutrition plan… well. Going to take a whole lot longer, right?
As for your nutrition plan, healthy is good, just make sure you’re getting enough calories. Your list there seems a little low–have you figured out how much you should be eating? And that will all depend on what your goals are. But yes, that’s the kind of food you want to be eating, with plenty of water. Just make sure you’re eating enough!
Hey Phil
So I am on week 3 and missed 4 days. Do you think its a good idea to do the week all over again?
Thanks
i just got insanity i wil be starting it monday i let you guys knw how im doin by sat. i run alot so i should be gud. im trying to prepare for ranger challenge in rotc in college.
I made it through the 4th week. At the beginning of the week, I was really thinking that this routine was definitely designed for people younger than I am (53), but the last three workouts went fine. I lost a little over 3 pounds this past week, so I’m up to around 12 pounds or so. I’m hoping that I can keep up at least that pace for the remainder of the workout. Since recovery week is probably a little easier, maybe I won’t see as much this week. I have a question. I looked ahead to the beginning of the second month, and it looks like it begins not only with one of the new more difficult workouts but also the fit test? Is this correct? If so, any suggestions on how to do these? Do I take the fit test and then go straight into the new workout, or would some other way work?
Senor Insanity is AWESOME:
Sorry it’s taken me a few days to get back to you! If you missed 4 days, that’s pretty much the week. Sure, go ahead and do week 3 again. And try not to slip again!
Hi Jack,
Yeah, that’s a brutal Monday. After your recovery week you should be raring to go, but if you’re worried about being overloaded (and that Max workout IS brutal), just do you fit test on the Sunday before
Finished recovery week. The workout was much less intense, and I was able to keep up throughout, but it was still a workout. I only lost a little over one pound this past week, so I was a little disappointed, but I expected the weight loss would be less during recovery week. Still, that’s moving in the right direction. I’m a little worried about month two, but I’ll do my best and see how it goes.
I have been doing insanity workout, diet plan with Activit Pills for 2 two weeks. I have lost 12 lbs in 14 days. The diet is strict but the results are amazing. I have incooperated my normal runs inbetween Insanity. I have yet to complete a full session of Insanity without stopping, however I do not fast forward or pressed stop. I do what I can and even go through the motions on some of the exercise. I recommend to anyone to continue doing the DVD’s AND YOU MUST STICK TO YOUR RECOMMENDED CALORIE COUNT FOR ACTIVE AND TIER 1 AND 2 FOODS ONLY as recommended by Nutrition Guide. Also, I highly recommend the ACTIVIT Vitamins/Far Burner. It has given me a lot of extra energy!!! DIG DEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i will be starting my 2nd week 2morrow. the first week was like hell week or sumthn. in my nutrition plan should i eat nitro tech protein bars?
I am doing insanity for the third time. I had major weight to loose. I have lost a total of 70lbs but about 40-45 of them lost doing insanity twice. The workout is really designed to shed no more than twenty pounds within the two months but that should really be all you should have to loose. I look great but I have about another 40lbs to loose. My ambition is to reenter into the fitness industry and insanity will provide me with the tools to do that.
Phil -
I have recently joined the Army and I leave for BCT in just under 3 months. I am in decent shape but want to make sure that I am in the best shape possible so that that boot camp doesn’t kick my a**. Would you recommend “Insanity” or possibly something else? Thank You
Hi Kewan,
I don’t know about nitro tech protein bars specifically, but as long as the sugar count isn’t too high you should be alright incorporating them. Remember to simply count those calories when summing up your daily totals, and you’ll be fine. Good luck!
Hi Matt,
Without knowing anything about your body type or background except that you’re in decent shape, I’d recommend that you do Insanity for the following reasons: it will help develop your endurance, explosive power and cardio engine, and fits perfectly within your time frame, giving you a couple of weeks to ease off at the end and build up your strength for BCT. Best of luck!
I’m 36 years old, 5′4″ at 164. I started Insanity yesterday. I attempted it once before and made it through the first week and even lost 7 lbs without using the nutrition guide. After the day off, I couldn’t dig deep enough to start week two. This time, it’s different. I need to lose 20 lbs for medical reasons so I’m super motivated. I’ve been eating often (yesterday only 4 times- 1500 calories) and today, I will eat all 5 meals. I’m in the Army so I am doing PT in the am and Insanity at lunch. I’ll keep everyone posted! I’m excited about taking this challenge and sticking to it.
Hi everyone! I am 25yrs old 5′5 and could afford to loose a good 100 pounds. I have already lost 13 pounds on my own but I have some female conditions that make it difficult for me to loose weight. Today is day 2 of Insanity and I am more sore than I have ever been in my life! I have even worked out with trainers in the past and they have never made me feel like this. I know I am not in shape what so ever , but I take Insanity at my own pace and make it through the videos even if I have to take a short break to catch my breath. I am excited to see my body on day 60! I love the work outs so far and even though I have a really hard time with a lot of the work outs I know it will all be worth it in the end!
I was reading through the comments and i was wondering if you suggest the Activit Pills that Dawn was talking about? Will you get better results and not put the weight back on after you stop using them?
Hi Julie,
I don’t know anything about the Activit Pills, but I have a general policy when it comes to such things: don’t take short cuts. Anything that helps you ‘cheat’ at your weight loss is doing the work for you. Therefor, when you stop taking the pills, your bad habits will resume, and you’ll put the weight back on. The only way to permanently lose weight is to change your habits permanently, and that means nutrition, sleep, and exercise. Eating whole food that is organic, not processed and high in nutrition along with plenty of sleep and exercise will do more for your body and mind and for much longer than a handful of diet pills ever will.
This is my second week of Insanity and I haven’t noticed much of a difference and my scale is pretty much staying the same. I have read that this workout is designed for weight loss but i also know know that muscle weighs more than fat. Is it easier to keep track of your progress through measurments?
I’m wondering if I’m putting my body through too much if I run 2 to 3 miles in the morning and do the Insanity workout. I was exhausted yesterday and today, my BODY is exhausted. I am following the calorie suggestion in the Nutrition Guide still though.
Hi Crystal,
Check out this post I wrote about body weight vs. body composition. Changes in your body (especially in the first few weeks) may not show themselves in changes in weight. Rather, try eyeballing your figure in the mirror, and gauging the changes in energy.
The other possibility is to lower you caloric intake if your energy levels are high enough. Best of luck!
Nisha,
Don’t overdo it. If you burn out, you’ll get nothing done. Rather, slow and steady wins the race. Cut out the running for the next few weeks, and if after 15 days or so of Insanity you have enough energy to throw in runs, go ahead. But I doubt it.
Thanks Phil! The only problem is, I’m in the Army so I have to run but I don’t want to quit Insanity. I imagine I can run shorter distances?
Heya Nisha,
Being in the army means you need to accommodate Insanity to your reality. The most important thing is that you don’t hurt yourself or burn out by over training. No pain no gain has been decisively proven wrong, and you need to allow your body time to rest and recuperate to reap the rewards. Simply working harder does not a better body make. So my advice is the following: scale back the Insanity a little, and grow into the program. What I mean is that you should do less that the workout says you should do, and listen to your body as you add more workouts as you grow tougher and maintain good energy levels. Try doing Insanity 3 x week at first, and see how you feel. If after a couple of weeks of that you feel fine, up it to 4 x week. You may be impatient, you may want to do more, but listen to your body, and realize that it takes time for ligaments and tendons and joints to adapt to new levels of impact and stress. So grow into the workout, listen to your body, get as much sleep as you can, and make Insanity work for you, not the other way round.
One more question, I am eating around 1300 calories a day give or take a few..i know i should be eating at least 1500..Will it hurt my results if I’m not?
Hey,
7 months ago I did insanity I lasted 2 weeks! My joints started to really hurt so I had no choice but to stop. Turns out I’m a dumb idiot because I didn’t wear shoes. I tried again a few months ago but gave up during the fit test. My head wasn’t in it! But now I feel very motivated I did the fit test yesterday, and I feel the workout everywhere including my tummy! I’m not over weight i’m fairly active everyday! i’m 5′10 and 135lbs. I just don’t like the little bit of tummy, thighs and love handles so i’m going for just a good tone! and maybe 10 lbs would be nice!
The thing is I finally got my fiance to do this, but he is over weight he’s 5′10 215lbs, and because he has a desk job not active at all. So I just wanted to know if with insanity will he see results? He doesn’t have medical problems, but because of his weight could it be bad for his heart or something?
Julie,
What you need to pay attention to in the end are your energy levels. Can you finish your workouts and feel good? Do you have a bounce in your step, or are you dragging? You need to eat enough to feel good, but as little as possible to lose weight. It’s a fine line, a balancing act, but if your energy levels are tanking, than eat more. If they’re steady, keep going. Best of luck!
I have 2 children and my youngest just turned 1 on the 18th of May….I am sooo over weight….I had a little tummy after I had my first child but My legs, buns, arms were toned enough to where I was comfy with my body….Now….Ive scheduled an apt to get a tummy tuck and Lipo…I never in my life thought I would even consider that….Im going to start the Insanity workout on monday…and Im really praying that this is going to work for me. I need to loose 40lbs and Im hoping by the fall I’ll be close..It’s really hard to be motivated when your not happy with yourself…but you guys give me hope!
I am at Week three. I have not lost any more weight, but have toned up really nice. I have had to go to Insanity every other day. I do manage to do the Insanity Abs 16 minute workout every day. I also still run daily, (cuz I am in the Army). I am feeling great. To Julie-As for the Activit….I ordered them from the Beachbody.com. They are vitamins. Given me some great energy. I dont think they are the source of the success of my toning and weight loss, but they have contributed to it.
I finished the first week of month two. It was really hard, but I did better later in the week. I definitely won’t do the fit test before doing the daily workout again. After such a grueling week, I had hoped to see a bigger drop in weight. In the end, it looks like I only lost a little less than 2 pounds, which is about what I lost during recovery week. Any chance that the rate of weight loss picks up a bit as month two progresses? At this pace, I should still get to 20 pounds off by the end of the program, but I had hoped for something closer to 25 or so. Anyway, I’m hoping that week two of month two goes a little better. Those longer workouts are really tough.
I am trying to lose weight and gain some definition in my abs and my gym routine isn’t getting me the results I want. I’ve lost some weight but not as much as I’d like. I’m considering buying insanity because it seems like It would deliver the results I’m looking for really fast which I would love! But I heard not many people lose weight or have to add more cardio to lose weight, is this true? I need to lose 20-25 pounds, if I dedicate myself to the program and the diet plan would it be possible to lose that in 60 days? I’m 19 and pretty active right now.
Hi Jessica,
Best of luck on your new bout of Insanity, and as for your fiance, I doubt Insanity would be bad for his heart, but rather I’d be worried about his joints. He might be better off by starting with Power 90. Have him give it a look, and best of luck!
Hi Jack,
Hang in there, you’re doing great. How much weight you lose is also dependent on what you’re eating and how many calories you’re putting into your system. So I can’t gauge how much you might lose without knowing that kind of info. However, if you eat right, you should be losing that weight.
Best of luck!
Hi Mia,
I think you should be able to lose a substantial amount of weight in 2 months if you exercise right and follow the diet plan to the letter. Most people who don’t lose the weight don’t follow the nutrition plan correctly. At 19 you should be able to burn that weight off pretty quickly!
Just wanted to check in after completing week 1, as recommended. Army PT 5 days, Insanity 3 and a low cal diet. I have lost 4 lbs in 7 days. Today I will start week 2 of my 3 days of Insanity and PT this morning was a 3 mile run. I’m SO excited! Thank you for all the support!
Ok….I received my Insainty package and I am READY!!!! I will start tonight. Im very focused on getting in shape for my children and I look forward to feeling and looking amazing! I know it’s going to be hard but I know deep down…..I can do it!
Question: Is it better to workout in the morning or the evening? I have a very crazy schedule. Im up by 5am and normally don’t get home until 7pm.
Hi Nisha,
Congrats on the success already! Keep it up, take care of those joints, and keep checking back in!
Hi Gail,
I’m excited to hear about your imminent results–please come back and post regularly! As for when works best to exercise, I really think the best time is the time that most encourages you to workout. Unless you’re already lean and fit, it doesn’t really matter when you workout, so just do it when you most enjoy it.
Well today I will do my 3rd workout. My body is sooooo sore but I cant wait to get home so I can get started on day 3!!!! Even though my body is hurting I feel amazing. I haven’t had this much energy in a long time!!!!
Hey all…
I’m on Day 3 in my Insanity workout and I’m limping around work as we speak, motivating myself to get ready for the Cardio Power and Resistance workout when I get home this evening.
I have read so many success stories and stories about those who are just starting…I am focused. I have tried a LOT of workouts, to no avail. Hopefully I made a good decision as far as Insanity is concerned.
I will get back with you guys on Day 15, once I see the results! Keep up the good work everyone and don’t give up…we’re all in this together!!!!!!!
Hello everyone,
Well, my Insanity made it through the mail to me two days ago. I have managed to pump up my entire family into trying this with me but whoever lasts, lasts, but for me I am determined. I am 5′1″ about 145lbs. I’m 45yrs and recently was diagnosed with Hypertension. I knew why…years of minimal work and lots of play. My physician said “I want you working out five days a week”. I said “yea right”. Then I experienced Insanity at my local recreation center!!! I was so sore I could hardly walk but I knew this was it. So today we (I) begin the fit test. . I want to be able to say “I’m in the best shape of my life”. Wish me endurance….
I have completed my 60 days!Awesome workout I love insanity!!Iwas doing p90x for almost a yr ,doing Billy Blanks Tae-bo also in between trying to mix it up!Well come spring I was needing a change to shock my system!Whoa insanity did that!I am so glad I added it to my workout library,I will now go back to p90x because I am craving weights now ,after 60 days of insanity i totally lost the extra little bit of fat hanging over my muscle I had got from p90x so I was like this is awesome!I can’t believe how GREAT I feel that I made it through the 60 days and that I actually have abs under there!P90x made them I knew they were under there, but insanity was just what I needed to bring it out more!Woo Hoo!Thanks Shaun T and Tony Horton too !!!
I’m on Day 5 now and from the previous comments…I am going to have my work cut out for me today. But I’m going to stay focused and motivated and do the very best that I can.
I CANNOT wait until Day 60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)
Hey guys! I’ve been swamped here at work, and am traveling this weekend. So apologies for not answering questions.
HOWEVER. If others want to chime in and help with the answering, please do! There are lots of knowledgeable Insanity grads out there–feel free to speak up and help the others with their questions!
Ok so yesterday I did the fit test and was dripping sweat and let me tell you…I hardly ever sweat and I was sweating so much! Today was my first plyometric circuit workout and I am exhausted, my clothes were soaked and I pushed myself harder than I ever have before. It was definitely insane but I feel AMAZING! I know this program is the real deal. I decided I’m going to weigh myself in 30 days instead of every week because I know how much the scale can fluctuate when you lose water weight and gain muscle so I’ll post when I weigh in. I’m eating really healthy and I can’t wait to see my results in 60 days!!!
I was wondering though if it’s safe to add in some light cardio in the morning to speed up weight loss? I usually do the elliptical for 50 min. in the morning and I was thinking about doing that 4 days a week in addition to the insanity workouts. Thoughts?
hey guys just got this and cant wait to start monday! what time of day would you guys suggest doing this? thankss
Hey Nick, I would definitely suggest doing it either in the morning or early afternoon. After you do the first workout you’ll see how hard it is and that its way better to do it at a time when you have the most energy during your day to get through it. Good luck!
I finished week two of month two, so two weeks to go. I did better this week than week one, both in keeping up and in weight loss (around 3 lbs. this week as opposed to about 1.5 lbs the week before). I’ve now lost about 17 lbs. since I began. I’m still hoping for 25 lbs. by the time I finish, but it likely will be closer to 20, so I won’t complain. I substituted the Max Sports Interval Training video (from the deluxe version) for the Core Cardio and Balance, and it was definitely tougher (especially that down to low plank move sideways then up and down again exercise). I also tried the Insane Abs instead of the Cardio Abs, but I’m not sure I’ll try that again, since I didn’t come close to keeping up. It was just too far beyond this 53-year old body. Tomorrow is another Fit Test to go with the Max Interval Circuit, but there’s no way that I’m doing the Fit Test before the Max Interval Circuit. I tried that last time and just drown in the main workout. I’ll do the Max Interval Circuit first and then the Fit Test. I know that will skew the results of the Fit Test, but I’m just going to treat it as a double workout day instead. I have to admit that after week one of month two I thought that I’d just have to do what I could and would be way behind in the exercises, but week two has encouraged me, and I feel more confident about week three than I thought I would.
Hey,
I’m 46 years old and I am in week4 of Insanity. I have been pretty active most of my life and started to work out again on a regular basis last November when we bought a treadmill.
Without the treadmill and without having done 30 day shred I don’t think I would have been able to do Insanity but the previous training gave me a good basis. So far I have lost about 5 pounds of weight, which may not seem much, but the way my body is changing every week tells me that I’m on the right track. I am not following the nutrition guide but that’s because I already eat pretty much the way Shaun suggests in the nutrition guide. In any case, I feel better about my body, I have way more energy and I am confident that I will make it through the second month of Insanity, too. After that - I guess I’ll start all over again, maybe not six days a week, but 3 mixed with running on the treadmill. I just know that I want to keep up this level of fitness!
i just did the fit test this morning around 630 am. and man i thought i was already in good shape running about 5 miles a day to get ready for basic training, but boy was i wrong. I cant wait for the first workout tomorrow
I started Insanity because a few of my roomies started getting into it. I’m trying to lean myself out, and lose some of my stomach and tone up. I’m hoping I gain results. I have to break every 6-10 minutes though (and I only do about half the work out). Not because I’m pushing but because I have a heart condition and this workout is kinda of tough to go all the way through. Don’t worry I don’t push myself to dangerous levels. My doctor gave me the thumbs up to do this workout just as long as I watch myself
I’m hoping all this cardio will tone me up and keep my heart healthy. But I’m wondering will I still see some good results even though I’m taking it a bit easy? I’m hoping I will still get the positive benefits!
So Im on week 2 of the insanity work out and I FEEL GREAT. My clothes are fitting better already. It’s so exciting. I know I weighed about 207 a week before I started and I am not going to weigh myself again until Im done with the first month. my legs and tummy aren’t so loose and My grippers (love handles) are shrinking right before my eyes and I LOVE IT! Lol….
Folks!
My apologies for being absent these past few days! Unfortunately I’ve been slammed here at work, and can’t give you guys the attention you deserve. Come over to our Facebook page if your questions aren’t being answered, the folks there are much better at providing advice.
Hope to get back in the swing of things, but till then, get advice on Facebook!
Just wanted to tell the people who are just starting out and their weight is not “going down” not to feel discouraged because the same thing happened to me. I have just made it over the 1 month hump and now the weight is starting to fall off. I also really recomend the “slimming formula” which can be bought at beachbody.com…it helps with the weight loss without giving any of the jitters!
hey im 5′5 175 but im lean n sort of cut i a a sophmore in college. im trying to get contracted in army rotc any become a leader in ranger challenge. im almost done with week 4 so far i have lost 8 pounds. im gradually losing weight ma goal is 165 by day 60. but i have a hard time wit the diet program. should i eat after 8p.m. ?
Hi! I’m want to get in shape and I do excersice but nothing like this. Do you recomended for someone who runs almost 3 miles (wii) and make wii fit excercises (trainer)??
thanks,
I purchased a blazer a few months ago and I couldn’t button it and It was so tight around my arms but I refused to go up a size. I just put in it the back of my closet…thinking one day! I am now on my 3rd week of Insanity and I tried the blazer on yesterday and not only can I fit it with NO problem but I can button ALL of the buttons
Talk about freaking exciting. INSANITY gives me so much hope of what my body could look like if I keep going. I am so ready to do my second fit test. I know Im going to do much better. I feel amazing
I just finished week two and the result I have read from other people don’t seem to be anywhere close to mine. I love the workouts and really bust my ass during them. I definitely feel an increase in stamina from when I first started but that’s it. I know muscle would cause for a weight increase but I don’t feel any different. My measurements have increased by a little. No body fat changes though. I know it’s early in the workout but these results compared to others are really discouraging. I’ve been pretty good with following the elite nutrition guide also.
So I’m on week three of Insanity and love it. My wife and I get up every day at 4am and go to it. The only issue I have right now is some sore knees (10yrs in the Army) and I don’t see any change. We are following the diet as best we can and drinking water like crazy. My goal is to be around 195 and lean up but it seem so far away. I know I shouldn’t worry about the numbers but I can’t help but feel a little discouraged when I’m not seeing any difference. I did the math and the diet says I should be at around 2800 calories per day, is that right or did I mess up the math? On another note I did improve quite a bit on the second fitness test!!!
Hi all!
First I want to say that all of the comments here are inspiring! I just recently received my copy of Insanity and have been waiting to start it until I had some time I could really devote to it. I finally do! To give you a run down on myself, I am 5′6″ and I fluctuate between 155 and 160lbs. I have two little ones - a 4 year old and a 2 year old. I’ve gone through 2 c-sections and so my abs look AWFUL. I’ve actually already lost about 15 lbs mostly from watching what I eat, but I want to ramp it up considerably. I’ve always been active as in running/jogging/cycling/kickboxing, but I can’t seem to get over the last 15-20 lbs. Another note is that I am vegan, so word to the wise, eating vegan does not guarantee ANYTHING as far as weight (I mention that because I get asked that all the time). I love the nutrition guide and love how I can customize it to meet my personal needs in entirely veganizing the menu. Very cool. I can’t wait to start! To top it off, I’ll see my husband in about 2 months (he’s in Iraq right now) and I would LOVE to look completely transformed by the time he gets home! I look forward to getting to know you and can’t wait to join the insanity!
I just finished the 60-day Insanity workout. It was tough, but I lost 21 lbs. in the end, which I’m pretty happy about given my slow 53-year old metabolism. I’ll probably try to go through the program one more time (after a week or two off to recover). I’d still like to lose another 10 lbs.
I’m on day three of week three of Insanity and it is Truly kicking my butt., but I LOVE IT!!! I have 3 kids, and I had the baby of the family 6 months ago. I had PLENTY of baby weight to take off. When I started Insanity I was 5′8 236lbs. However before InsanityI was able to run 5 miles and train in Taekwondo. Even though I felt like I had had o.k. stamina, Insanity let me know otherwise and kicked my butt throughly! Great results have REALLY shown throughout my body especially my stomach and love handles. My husband has really noticed a major difference. I know that I’m not going to reach my goal in 60 days but I am gonna stick with it because it truly works and REALLY helps with my Taekwondo training.
Im feelin’ better than ever…..I think Im going to do insanity for the rest of my life!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! The sky is the limit when doing INSANITY : )
Hello,
I am 14. I am going into my Freshman year of high school and I was wondering if this workout would show someone my age good results? I am at 30% bodyfat and I want to get down to a healthy amount. I was on the football team so working out isn’t new to me. The main reason I want to do this is because I don’t plan on doing any sports in school anymore (people where I live are horrible team players) so I wanted to do something like this. I run 2 miles a day and am eating healthier so I think I am down to 26% (doctor said that) and he said this workout wouldn’t harm me in any way since I am young. Since it is nearly all cardio based the worst that could happen is I push myself to hard. And the likely hood of that happening is low since during football I would go as hard as anyone else. I just like to eat and I didn’t stop eating unhealthy after sports where sports over. Another reason is I don’t want to go to highschool known as “The Fat Kid.”
well im 21 yrs old and weigh 280. my whole life i’ve struggled with my weight. im tired of being laughed and picked on. i have to put an end to this hell im living, and get out of the depression im in. even though I have knee problems I will work as hard as I can to transform myself. im really excited and cannot wait to begin my journey………
Hi, I am going to start Insanity tomorrow I’m 18 years old and 117-119 lbs. I need to lose some excess fat that I have and i’m really excited to start this workout! I have a question about the nutrition part- i’m vegetarian so I can’t really eat anything recommended on the nutrition plan so what can I or should I eat? and also how meals a day is it necessary for me too eat? and how many calories should I intake on a daily basis?
Thank You
Amy
@ Tyler - it won’t kill you. I’m a sophomore and I’m in cross-country, and believe me, the speed workouts there are FAR more intense than this.
However, if someone reads this post, I would like to know if this is a good way to keep in good shape since I’ve recently injured my ankle and can’t run. Running season starts again in a few months, and it’s crucial that I get something to do to stay in shape until then. Thanks!
Ok so i’m on week 4 of Insanity and it’s pretty great. But, has anyone else gained weight on this program? Clothes are fitting better, and i’m feeling tighter, but i’ve gained weight. Just curious if this has happened with anyone else.
Hey guys! I borrowed Insanity from a friend to try and I don’t have the nutrition guide to follow. Anyone know if there is anywhere on the web to download it?
Hello, I’m 13 years old and im 6′5″ at 260lbs. I have gigantism and im FAT…i already finished my third day today. Im really sore. I just want to know if this will really trim me down. I play basketball on a daily basis and i need to star jumping higher. I also want my upper body to be toned.
Questions: Will this really work as time progresses? Will this make me jump higher? Will I trim down? Will I come out toned on my trouble areas? Is this worth it after 60 days? THANKS FOR THE HELP AN SUPPORT:)
Hello, im 13 years old and i weigh 260 lbs. Im 6 foot 5 inches. The reason im so big is because i have Gigantism. Im healthy but i have ALOT of fat. I already finished my 3rd day today. Im really sore too. I just want to know if this will really trim me down. I play basketball on a daily basis, but i need to jump higher. I also want my upper body to be toned.
Questions: Will this really work as time progresses? Will this make me jump higher? Will I trim down? Will I come out toned on my trouble areas? Is this worth it after 60 days? THANKS FOR THE FUTURE HELP AND SUPPORT:) it would be great if anyone can nearly relate to me on this subject:) thank you again:)
@ Brad- It’s great keep it up. I’m fitting in my clothes alot smoother than before as well. But I haven’t heard of gaining weight. What have you been doing besides Insanity?
OK. I am years old, a mother of two small children ( 3 and 5), I have really never been a person to work out, really I just walk and ride bike. Now that I am home with two boys, I have gained a few pounds between being at home and left over from pregnancy. I was just wondering if this workout might be too tough for me since I don’t really “workout”? My joints are in good health and I don’t generally have any “aches or pains” on a day to day basis but after reading everything, I am concerned that I will waste my money on something I can’t use if I purchased this? Any feedback would be great!
I have been doing insanity for 2 weeks now,and just like on the first day i started;I’m still more excited than ever before..by that I mean that everyday is a beating, but at the same time its like u can actually feel your body changing and tightening…I am in the military,so this isn’t my first work out rodeo lol…when I was in basic training I went through an amazing change in my body, when I came back home I couldn’t help but to getting back to eating some real food, especially my mothers down home cooking nothing like it lol. After being home for 3 years I gained weight and lost my army body I built 3 years ago,I started to realize the damage i’ve done when I saw my wife give birth to our son, I finally said to myself that I’m tired of looking like this,I missed my old body I used to have..so I took the insanity challenge which suited me best it reminded me of the military training i got back in basic,it’s working so far..and cat get enough of it,if you are a member of the armed forces i recommend this workout to you all the way you’ll be highly motivated and dedicated once more for you’re country.
hey okay so im a teen right? and i eat a little every three hours bcuz i heard its good for your metabolism . i am very athletic but would like to have a fit body so im on the third day of insanity and i love it but so far i have gained 3 pounds since i satrted and im worried im not following the nutrution plan but i am doing the workouts thouroughly ..i figured since im still young i dont need to follow the eating plan but idk…….. any advice or idea why i have GAINED weight
I have been doing insanity for about 5 weeks now. I am 31 years old and a mother of three. I have always worked out but could never get the backside I’ve been looking for. I am extremely happy with what I see. My thighs have slimmed down and my behind is starting to take “shape”. I notice abs now too which I thought I lost forever! I love being pushed and Insanity does exactly that! I love the sweat that just drips from me….lets me know I’m working!! I have yet to master an entire workout. Seems that I have to stop right when he says 10 more seconds to go…..which I will do one day!! Can’t say enough about Insanity….LOVE IT!!!!!!!
I finished insanity 3 weeks ago. I only lost 7 lbs off my 150 lb frame. But, what was so… great was that I had my body fat tested before and after insanity….and lost 9% body fat going from 32.8% to 23%. I lost 2 inches off my waist, 1 1/2 in off my hips, firmed up my arms, and my back fat is gone. Yeah!! It was so motivating to see the results I’ve decided to do it again…this time I might even try to eat right. Last time I didn’t diet, but was conscientious of what I ate, eating much smaller amounts than I had previously and drinking so much more water. Good Luck to everyone.
Carol…I did Tae Bo maybe every 6 months for a couple of weeks at a time…But nothing serious…Im going on my 7Th week of insanity and it has helped me soooo much. I have a 1 and 7 yr old and I work from 9-6 with a 45 min drive to and from work everyday so at the beginning of this workout it was really really hard on me…and by my body being so sore after the first 2 workouts I really didnt think I could handle it. Once you start it gets you so pumped up you never want to stop. I think you would be fine. Just remember to go at your own speed…don’t try to keep up with them at first. Get your body use to it and by your second week your going to be ready to kick butt : ) Im getting great results but Im not where I want to be so Im going to do insanity until I get back to where I want to be. It didn’t take 2 months to get in the shape I was in so I know it’s not going to take 2 months to get it all off. GOOD LUCK CAROL….TEAM CAROL
im not good with dieting at all. will it still work if i dont eat exactly what the nutrition plan tells me to?
Hey there, I’m a 16 year old girl and really looking to tone and lose weight without bulky muscles. i have a cousin who uses INSANITY that is my age with her brother, and she looks AMAZING, so i was hoping to lose some weight with this too. However, i am in martial arts so i was wondering if insanity is too tough or rigorous if i have martial arts lessons several times a week.
I have quit some workouts before, so should i try and do this one? this is something i am really willing to WORK for.
thanks!
I never realized I was overweight until I started losing weight. After I gave birth to my son I started running to lose some of the weight I gained during pregnancy, and I was breastfeeding. I looked in the mirror one day and realized that my pants looked baggy. I went onto the scale and realized I had lost weight. So then I decided to buy P90X to tone up and lose more weight. I did P90X for six months. I lost some more weight and gained muscle. But I wanted more. I didn’t want to feel bulky, so I decided to order INSANITY. I’m on my third week of INSANITY, and I’ve noticed that my stomach looks slimmer, my love handles are shrinking. This is such a great workout! I’ve never worked out to a video that after I”m done or during I am winded and completely drenched in SWEAT! I LOVE this workout. I look forward to working out. I can’t wait to see my results after 60 days. After I’m done with Insanity I will do another round of P90X and incorporate Insanity into the program. Will keep you posted!
INSANITY COMPLETE!!!! Success! My starting weight was 152 lbs, hips- 42.5 inches and 29 in- waist. My final weight at 60 days was 130 lbs, 36 in hips and 25 in-waist. It was hard as hell with a boring diet that I followed religously straight from the Nutrition Guide. I also, incooperated running with the Insanity Program. I ran at least 2-4 miles every day prior to the work out. I COULD NOT do all the exercises but I never quit. If you wanna see before and after pics, I will be happy to show anyone the visual results. Email me a BMORETOWSON@YAHOO.COM.
Thank you Shaun T!!!!
I wake up in the mornings around 8:30 and get back from work around 12 pm after that I sit around all day until 7 or 8 in the evening and do the insanity workout. Is this bad for my body? Should I be doing it in the mornings?
